Asymptomatic Testing for Students and Staff
The Brant Haldimand Catholic District School Board, in partnership with the Grand Erie District School Board, Brant County Health Unit, Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, and the Ministry of Education will soon be offering targeted COVID-19 testing clinics for asymptomatic students and staff.
The voluntary testing will be made available for asymptomatic students and staff at schools throughout the district. Locations, date and times of the clinics will be confirmed and communicated to parents and staff next week.
It is important to note that the clinics are for asymptomatic students and staff only. All symptomatic individuals, as well as those recently directed to self-isolate by public health, due to a recent COVID-19 case, are not eligible for this targeted asymptomatic testing. These individuals must continue to self-isolate or get a COVID-19 test at their local assessment centre.
In addition to daily screening, masking, and other health and safety measures, the Ministry of Education believes targeted testing in schools is an important layer of protection that helps to limit the spread of COVID-19. Targeted testing will help ensure that schools remain a safe environment for all to learn and work in.
As a reminder, we encourage families to ensure that their contact information, specifically email, is up-to-date at the school as that is how the school and district regularly communicates important information and messages related to COVID-19 cases in your school community.
