Morning Announcements

Friday, October 1st, 2021

Attention all Cross-country runners -- Please remember to sign up at www.runforthecure.com and Join team Holy Trinity Catholic High School  for the CIBC Run for the Cure which is this Sunday October 3rd.  Students will create their own route, and run in their own neighbourhoods.  You can also tune in through the website to the ceremonies including opening ceremonies, survivor talks and performances by Chantal Kreviazuk and Brett Kissel.  Students are encouraged to sign up, get active and raise money for this worthy cause. 

Next week the cross-country team will practice Wednesday and Thursday after school.  Tuesday is a PA day.  Have a great weekend running for a great cause. 

 

"Yesterday's junior volleyball match against cross town rivals SCS started with a very close game resulting in a 2 point loss. The team got into their groove in the next set to win 25-14. Despite some great plays we couldn't keep the momentum for the win. Great efforts were made by all players for some awesome rallies. We saw great sets and serves by Aady Kakoty and Noah Gascoigne. Stand out players this week were: Andrew O'Neail, Landon Stratford, Carson Zilkey, and Nick Weiler. See you after school on Monday for our next practice, boys."

 

Congrats to the Senior Boys volleyball team who played a great game against our cross town rivals SCS Sabres. The boys took the game 3-1. Standout performances was put forth by Nolan Craig who would not let the ball hit the floor in his libero position as well as Cole Haviland with some great blocks and attacks. Great work guys

 

The senior girls tipped off the season last night at home against SCS with a score of 53-29. Standout performances by Joanna Smith, Sophia Bomberry, Abbey Benaway and Charli Thornewell.

The junior girls followed by beating SCS with a score of 39-17. Top performances by Teagan Vanrooy, Parker Lennox and Katie Earle.The girls will take on Delhi next Thursday.

 

The Chapel will be less accessable today because of retreats taking place throughout the day. Please call the chaplaincy office prior to sending students to the chapel.

Thursday, September 30th, 2021

Good luck to the junior and senior boys volleyball teams who are traveling across town to compete against SCS today. Players please board the bus at the front of the school by 2:25 .

 

Students are allowed to eat their lunches in our school cafeteria seating area as of October 1st, using a Covid 19 social distancing format with limited seats. The servery still remains closed at this time.

Wednesday, September 29th, 2021

Due to an incident at lunch yesterday, HT students will no longer be permitted to enter the Dollarama store in the Whitehorse Plaza. We would ask that students do not attempt to enter the store until this restriction is lifted.

 

Any students that pre-ordered an Orange shirt, please pick it up today at lunch time in the cafeteria. Thank you.l

 

Our junior boys volleyball team worked hard to get back in the game but lost in the 5th set yesterday to oHagersville yesterday. It was a match that had a lot of ups and downs but great performances by all.

Our senior boys volleyball team played very well yesterday to beat Hagersville 

3-1 . Standout performances were put forth by the hard hitters Alex Tulpin and Gryffin Townsend. Zach Weiler also had an awesome performance running the offence with his great sets.

Junior and Senior boys have practice tonight at 3:00 in the big gym. See you there.

"Good luck to the junior and senior boys' volleyball teams who are traveling to Hagersville this afternoon for the first game of their season! Players, please board the bus by noon at the front of the school. Our next practice is Wednesday after school."

 

If you have a book that is overdue, please return it to the bin outside the library door.

Some books are long overdue because we were not together when the library closed last June. Don't worry about that; we understand. Just put the book in the bin. 

 

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and the Norfolk St. Vincent de Paul are in much need of food items for their Thanksgiving Food Drive. It is our hope that our Norfolk County Catholic Schools can be of assistance. To donate tangible items, SSVP is holding in-person contactless collections on Saturday, October 9th (4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) at St. Mary’s Church, Simcoe and Sunday, October 10th (10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs’, Delhi.

Monday, September 27th, 2021

On Friday, our Football Team had a close game with the Delhi Raiders coming up short with a score of 15-14.

Standout performances were put forth by Taye Lovell who scored two touchdowns and Caleb Davidson who had great composure playing at the Quarterback position.

Next game is at Waterford on Friday.

 

Boys Volleyball is cancelled tonight.

If you are a student who has done well in a subject OR has a good knowledge of a subject, and would like to gain volunteer hours by tutoring another student, please see Mrs. Deconinck-O'Neail in Guidance to get more information or to fill in a peer tutor form.  We will then have your name ready if a student comes in needing additional support and will match you accordingly.  The commitment once matched is generally one lunch hour or after school session - you decide a week. 

 

All students who have signed up to scorekeep for football please come to the phys-ed office at lunch to talk to Mr. Backus.

 

Can the students who signed up to assist with football score keeping please see Mr. Backus and Mr. Martinow in the phys ed office first thing during lunch.
Can the senior members of the football team see Mr. Martinow during lunch to get their uniforms for tomorrow's game.

Anyone that is interested in scorekeeping for basketball, volleyball, or football can  you please come down to the phys-ed office today at lunch for a quick meeting with Mr. Backus.

 

Can members of the boys golf team please see Mr. Martinow down in the phys ed office at the beginning of lunch for an important message regarding the tournament.

 

Cross Country Practice continues today, tomorrow and Thursday after school. Meet at 3:10pm outside the phys. ed. office.

 

Students, remember to check the Volunteer and Jobs Board in Guidance as new opportunities are added.

Attention staff and students... the Canadian Blood Services is looking to fill 20+ spots on tomorrow’s blood donor clinic at the Royal Canadian Legion on West Street. You must be 17 years old to donate. Other eligibility criteria can be found on their website at blood.ca

September 15th 2021

Any students wishing to tryout for the HT Tennis team:

Tryouts will be held at the Norfolk Golf and country Club from 4:00-5:30 PM this Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. 

Additional practices will continue next week.

You must have a sports permission form filled out prior to tryouts. 

They are located in the phys-ed office. 

If you have any questions see Mr. Bramer in room 234 during morning class or lunch.
