There will be a brief but important meeting for all cross country runners immediately following the announcements in the cafeteria.  All students who wish to run cross country should attend. 


 

Reminder that Monday is Orange Shirt Day. Please wear your orange shirts to show your support for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. 

Thursday, September 26th, 2024

Attention all students interested in joining the French Club. There will be a meeting today at lunch in room 148 . Students in all grades are welcome. Please see Madame Vezsenyi or Madame Bell if you can not attend but would like to join the club. See you there!  

 

On Tuesday the junior boys soccer team played SJC and ACS in a mini tournament. Despite losing both games, the titans outplayed both their opponents, but could not capitalize on their chances. Goals were scored by Nerraud Thomas, Noah Bint, and Tristan Forde had 2 goals. John Stecklebomb, Tristan Forde, Lebron Arrendell and Roman Vanacker all played fantastic. Leandrew Duta was named player of the tournament. The coaches are extremely proud of how the boys played this fall!


 

Reminder to all students who are interested in  learning more about  living abroad for a year, attending school in a different part of the world, living with host families, and learning a new language and culture.   Please  attend an information meeting  today at lunch in rm 206.  There will be a member of  The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise to explain the opportunity and answer any questions.  

 

The gymnastics club is looking for volunteers -Norfolk County Fair is coming - which means that it's time for our annual move of the gym into storage containers.  This activity will count for community service hours for school as they are a non-profit organization. The MOVE OUT will start this Saturday September 28, 2024 at 12:00pm and MOVE IN will be Saturday October 19, 2024 at 9:00am. If you or someone you know is interested in helping out, please call 519-428-5119, email us at info@simcoegliders.ca or they can show up with their forms.

Attention Titans! Are you a student that has taken or is taking Grade 10 Science, Grade 11 Biology or Grade 11 Health Care? Are you in Grade 10, 11 or 12 and interested in a career in the health care field? If the answer is YES,  then listen up! If you are already enrolled or are interested in the SHSM program in health and wellness- there will be an informational meeting about SHSM this Wednesday Sept 25th - that is TODAY in room 246. This meeting is for CURRENT health and wellness SHSM students and ANYONE NEW who would like to enroll. Please come to room 246 at the beginning of lunch for a brief but important meeting. Please see Mrs. Bouw if you have any questions. 


 

The junior boys volleyball began their season with a strong start facing off against Delhi. After 4 really close sets, the boys came up just short losing 3 sets to 1. The coaches are super proud and are excited for a great season!


 

Hey Titans!  Our library is running a very exciting new contest—It’s a monthly draw for a $15 Tim Card!  For each full-length novel you read, fill in a quick review of the book, and you’ll receive one ballot to enter the draw for a $15 Tim Card.

Our first draw will be held in the library, at lunch, on Thursday October 24th.

Attention all university bound grade 12s.  The how to apply to university workshop will take place today in period 1.  Anyone who is planning to apply to university this year should attend.  Students will be called down to the Lower café immediately following these announcements. 

 

 

Grade 12s if you have not yet signed up for liaison visits please sign up in guidance.  This weeks visits include University of Guelph, Georgian college, Guelph Humber, and Humber college.

Brock university and kings college university have rescheduled into November.

 

 

Hey! Are you 15-17 years old and  Would  a life changing experience be of interest to you? Would you ever consider living abroad for a year, attending school in a different part of the world, living with host families, and learning a new language and culture? The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise offers such an opportunity. If you’d like to learn more, please sign up in guidance to show your interest, and attend an information meeting on Thursday Sept.26 at lunch in rm 206.

Attention Titans! Any students taking the health care course this year- or anyone interested in SHSM program in health and wellness- there will be an informational meeting about SHSM this Wednesday Sept 25th in room 246. Please see Mrs. Bouw if you have any questions. 

 

Attention students wishing to go to the March Break Costa Rica trip- the parent meeting scheduled for  tonight has been moved to Monday October 7th at 6pm. This update has also been posted to the parent memo as well as the parent website. This meeting is for any new students and parents who are interested in attending. If you have signed up in main office- you will have received an e-mail going over the itinerary and cost breakdown so that you can discuss with your parents prior to the meeting.  See you on Oct. 7th! Attention health care students, design and technology students and anyone who has a knack for solving problems! Mohawk college is offering their second annual MoHacks HealthQuest hackathon powered by the Mischa Weisz Foundation, where teams of high school students will design solutions to health care challenges! 

Participants will choose one of several health care challenges to solve at the beginning of the event.  The focus is creative and innovative design!

Students will then work in teams throughout the day on their designs. This can include a variety of applications. 

At the end of the day, participants will present their solutions to judges, who will award the best teams with respect to multiple judging categories. Participants will be provided with lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks. Mentors will also be present throughout the day to assist the teams.  There is no cost for this event. . The event is on Saturday October 26th from 8am until 10pm! Please see Mrs. Bouw if you are interested in attending.

Community Service Opportunity

 

The Port Dover Sailors hockey team is looking for a pair of students to perform audio and video duties for Sunday home games.  Please see Ms. Burnie in guidance for contact information. 

 

The Donny Brook Fair is taking place this coming weekend and they are looking for approximately 10 students for volunteer hours. If you are interested drop by guidance to get the contact information. 

 

Monday, September 16th, 2024

Attention Cross country runners practice will take place Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.  Everyone is welcome, please have permission forms signed.   We will meet outside of the phys. Ed. Office at 3:10 and run until approximately 4:25. 

 

 

Attention grade 12s please sign up for Liaison visits in guidance.  A list of schools who have committed to a visit is posted in all grade 12 homerooms and also on the counter in guidance.  Grade 12 Students can sign up for up to 3 visits.  This is a great way to see what programs and resources schools have to offer.  Visits this week include Kings University College UWO, Trent and Fanshawe College.  

 

 

Attention students interested in going to Costa Rica for March Break 2025 - Please sign up in the main office and put your e-mail on the sheet. An e-mail with information will then be sent to you that you can share with your parents. If you have already signed up last year for the trip- you do not need to sign up again. Please remember that the parent meeting will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 6pm.

On Friday the junior boys soccer team travelled to Kitchener for a tournament, in which they lost in the silver bracket semi-finals 2-1. This is the best bracket the junior titans have ever been in and the tournament was a great success! Leading the way for the titans, were John Stecklebomb and Lucas Ferreira with 2 goals each, Lebron Arrendell, and Roman Vanacker had 1 goal each. Other standout tournament performances from Leandrew, Ryder Kowtaluk, and Nerraud Thomas.

Hey Titans! Have you heard the term SHSM and always wondered that they means?  SHSM stands for a specialist high skills major program.  This specialty program provides opportunity for grade 11 and 12 students to specialize in a specific career field of interest in high school.  Through this SHSM program, students would work with their SHSM lead teacher and guidance counselor to select high school credit course which fit into their area of focus.  Students would also have the opportunity to engage in a number of experiential learning opportunities and field trips to learn more about their career field of interest.  In addition, students also receive specialized training directly connected to their SHSM program!  Here at Holy Trinity, we offer the following SHSM programs:

 

Agriculture – with Mrs. DHulster

Construction –with  Mr. Ellis

Health and Wellness –with  Mrs. Bouw 

Hospitality – with Mrs. Beam 

Sports – with Mr. Backus 

And Transportation – with Mr. Chernak

Attention Cross country runners Practices will happen Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:10 until approximately 4:25.  Runners are encouraged to attend 2 practices per week and complete a run on the weekend.  If you have not yet signed up but are interested in joining us please sign up on the bulletin board outside the phys. Ed. Office.   We look forward to seeing you on the trail.

 

Attention grade 12s:  Liaison visits begin next week with Kings University/College - UWO on Monday and Trent and Fanshawe visiting on Friday.  Liaison visits are an Excellent opportunity to learn about what schools have to offer,  and ask questions about programs. Please come down to guidance and sign up for up to 3 visits in the red binder on the counter.

 

Mr. Chernak's afternoon class will be catching a bus at the back of the school to go to Fanshawe at 12 noon sharp today.

 

 

Attention students interested in going to Costa Rica for March Break 2025  OR  who have already signed up. The dates for the trip are still  March 6th-16th- we will change the promo to reflect those same dates. The dates have not changed. A few new and returning students have come to see Mrs. Bouw to ask questions and get more information which is great! Please sign up in the main office and put your e-mail on the sheet. Games club is closed today during lunch but will be open again next week in room 231 for those interested in learning some new card games or board games.

All grade nines who need a late bus for colour night must be signed up by the end of the day today! 

 

IMPORTANT: Any senior boys interested in volleyball must sign up at Room 210 and complete the forms in order to try out.  As of right now there is not enough interest to form a team.

If any hockey players or figure skaters who live near Delhi are looking for community service hours, The Delhi Skating Club is looking for volunteers for their Learn to Skate program.  One season of volunteering would achieve the 40 hours needed for graduation. 

Please see Ms. Hanson for further details.

Attention tennis players! Due to the large turnout, practices have been modified. Jr players (gr. 9 and 10) will practice each day from 3-4PM, with seniors practicing each day from 4-5PM. If you are unable to make a practice, please communicate this to one of the coaches!"

Attention Titans! Anyone interested in becoming a peer tutor this year is asked to see Ms. Fry in TLC. This is an excellent opportunity to gain volunteer hours and help fellow HT students during lunch hour.

Any student interested in running cross country please sign up and take the two permission forms from the bulletin board outside the phys Ed office.  We will have a brief meeting in guidance on Wednesday at lunch and our first practice on Wednesday after school.   We look forward to seeing you.

Jr Girls Basketball tryouts will take place Wednesday morning at 7:15 and Tuesday Sept 17th after school from 3-4:15. 

Thursday's tryout a has been cancelled due to colour night. Please pick up a permission form from Mr. Flynn in the PE office. 

 

Attention Grade nines! The tradition of colour night continues at HT on Thursday, September 12 after school until 7:00PM. This is an excellent opportunity to meet new friends, learn cheers for fair, and dance the evening away. Pizza and snacks will be provided. You do not want to miss this exciting night!

All Grade Nines will be permitted to wear their colour at school on Thursday instead of the uniform. Please make sure it is school appropriate and you must be in your colour!

There will be late buses available after the dance, please sign up in the main office.

There is a five-dollar fee to attend this event. You can pay your fee on schoolcash online.

 

Attention to any Senior Boys interested in playing Senior Boys Volleyball. There is a sign up sheet and two important forms outside of Mrs. Mayne's room, ROOM 210. The first tryout will be Wednesday, September 11th @ 7:15 am in the small gym. The second tryout will be Thursday, September 12th at 7:15 am in the small gym. The final tryout will be Monday, September 16th @ 7:15 am in the big gym. Mrs. Mayne and Mrs. Van Dyk look forward to seeing you there!
